IOM is looking for Media & Public Information Assistant according to the terms of reference below. Job Title : Media & Public Information Assistant
Duty Station : Banda Aceh, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Indonesia
Classification : Employee, Grade 6 step 1
Estimate Starting Date : Soon as Possible
Duration of Contract : 3 months with possible extension


General Functions:



Under the supervision of the Head of Office Aceh/Nias and in close coordination with IOM Media & Public Information colleagues in Jakarta, the successful candidate will contribute to the formulation and implementation of creative communications strategies to promote IOM's activities in Aceh. In particular, he/she will:
1. Gather, prepare and disseminate public information on IOM activities in Aceh in written reports.
2. Provide materials for bi-weekly press briefing notes, website submissions to the IOM Indonesia website, Migration magazine, Program fact sheets and other IOM publications as assigned by HoO Aceh/Nias
3. Represent IOM at press conferences and other media events when requested by the HoO.
4. Brief the HoO or other officials participating in press conferences or other media events and where necessary, provide media training.
5. Develop and strengthen links with local media in Aceh to promote the work of IOM
1. Advise the HoO, sub-office focal points, program managers and other IOM staff on media and public information issues.
2. Liaise with the media and information focal points of donors, partner UN agencies, IO's and NGOs in Aceh.
8. Perform any other external relations duties requested by the HoO.
1. Work closely with the HoSO and Program Managers on ensuring professional presentations at conventions/ seminars, to Governments and donors as required.
Desirable qualifications:
University degree in Journalism, Communications, International affairs. Minimum three years of this level of work experience acquired in journalism and / or public information work. Some knowledge of graphic design desirable.
Excellent spoken and written English and Bahasa. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. High level of professionalism, ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines. Preference will be shown to those candidates demonstrating experience or training in basic graphic design phto and basic video editing. A self starter who is capable of working alone if necessary to ensure the product is quality and on time.
Familiarity with IOM and other international organizations an advantage.
