IFRC is currently looking for a qualified and committed candidate to fill the following position on a fixed term contract basis :

1. Water and Sanitation (WatSan) Manager
Location : Based in Jakarta, Indonesia
Reports to : WatSan Coordinator
Start Date : Immediately

Key Tasks and Responsibilities :

1. Work with PMI Pusat to reflect upon and draft a WatSan Strategy (both for Emergency WatSan and Developmental WatSan)
2. Support WatSan Coordinator to initiate the construction of and management planning for the Bandung WatSan training center and its sustainable future.
3. Work closely with the National Society at all levels, while assisting NS staff and volunteers to effectively implement WatSan Projects and Programmes.
4. Support NS during the assessment and project planning process while in close co-operation with Health, OD and DMC components and colleagues.
5. Work with WatSan Coordinator in planning exercises and implementing interventions
6. When requested, represent the IFRC positively in all dealings and discussions with PMI, NGOs, and among the PNSs.
7. Plan and carry out together with the National Society staff and volunteers the following tasks to improve health and reduce vulnerability of the beneficiaries by:
• ensuring adequate safe water is available to all members of the community or target group
• ensuring water quality is tested regularly where appropriate
• ensure SPHERE standards are attained and maintained where appropriate
• ensure international and/or national WatSan standards are maintained
• ensure adequate sanitation facilities are available to all members of the community or target group to include excreta disposal and where appropriate bathing/laundry facilities
• ensure other sanitation needs are addressed where appropriate (vector control, waste water management, solid waste management, hazardous waste management)
8. Participate and contribute in the development and training for PMI staff, in WatSan hardware/software and in project planning, budgeting, reporting and proposal writing to include management skills, etc

Requirements :
• Diploma, or higher in IT or equivalent
• 2 years minimum of work in computer systems (LAN, WAN TCP/IP connectivity, E-mail, application and user support domains)
• Good physical and mental health

Skills / Knowledge :

• Post-secondary education in engineering (civil, public health or environmental)
• Experience in Project Management practice with large Governmental Organisations or NGOs
• Experience in Engineering practice, with a bias to community- related water and sanitation projects
• Previous work with international organizations would be an asset
• Self-supporting in computers (Windows, spreadsheets, word- processing)
• English Language Fluency
