German Red Cross (GRC) is currently looking for a qualified and committed candidate to fill the following positions on a fixed term contract basis :

1. Project Manager for Ambulance Service in Northern- Sumatera
Reports to : Head of GRC Country Office in Jakarta
Start Date : 01 February 2009
Duration : One year


1. Work Objectives

- To coordinate the implementation of the Ambulance Service Project run by the consortium of Palang Merah Indonesia, German and Hongkong Red Cross in Northern-Sumatra.
- To ensure efficient partnership management among stakeholders of this pilot project Red Cross Movement, Public Health Authorities, Insurances, Hospitals and Suppliers.
- To manage a well planned marketing strategy implementation to increase the user rate of the ambulance service in pilot centres.

2. Key tasks and activities

- To plan and conduct with the GRC country office and an international consultant a baseline study for marketing of the Ambulance Service in Northern-Sumatra.
- To design a marketing strategy with the consortium members and external stakeholders of the health sector and media
- To supervise the GRC /PMI Ambulance project teams in Medan, Pemantang Siantar and Sibolga.
- To monitor completion of ongoing construction projects in 2 branch Ambulance Centres.
- To liaise in close coordination with the GRC country representative with the leadership of PMI and the health department in Jakarta as well as the sister project in Aceh
- To ensure documentation, quality assurance and financial accountability of the project to the consortium members with the local staff.

3. Professional requirements

- Working experience of 5 years in project management and business administration
- Proven leadership and marketing skills
- Proven experience in international development cooperation, humanitarian relief or public health management.
- Excellent working skill in English in speaking and writing.
- Academic degree like MBA or MSC
