Vacancy Legal Awareness Raising Campaign (LARC) - Project Manager Based Banda Aceh Field Office

Muslim Aid Indonesia is implementing with UNDP Aceh Justice Program's (AJP) support a Legal Awareness Raising Campaign (LARC) project. We are looking for an experienced individual to be Project Manager. He/she will work closely with the Muslim Aid team, UNDP AJP and stakeholders and coordinate with field team. He/she will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to the team, financial management and reporting. The initial assignment is for 10 months, (which may be extended).

Tasks:

The incumbent is expected at all times to ensure adherence to UNDP requirements for project management, monitoring, reporting and evaluation. He/she will:

§ Manage the day today activities of the project ;
§ Liaise with relevant stakeholders in relation to LARC activities;
§ Assume responsibility for implementation of the project;
§ Draft and update annual and quarterly project work plans in close consultation with UNDP. The work plans should reflect the costing of the activities;
§ Closely monitor project activities against the desired outputs/results and advise the MAI country director on required management actions and necessary modifications;
§ Draft Terms of Reference for short-term consultancy missions and other project activities as well as project personnel;
§ Recruit, as required, project management staff and consultants;
§ Plan, organise and oversee the necessary administrative and other logistical support to the consultancy missions, workshops, training, and other project activities;
§ Prepare monthly progress updates, quarterly project reports for the UNDP, as well as other information as may be requested;
§ Exercise financial oversight of the project under the supervision of the MAI country director to ensure accurate and efficient budget management and project delivery;
§ Supervise the work of the Finance and Administration Officer (FAO) through regular Feedback and performance assessment.

- Has managerial competency with experience in results based management and results oriented approach to project implementation.

- Has excellent oral communication skills and conflict resolution competency to manage inter-group dynamics and mediate conflicting interests of varied actors.
- Has excellent written communication skills, with analytical capacity and ability to synthesize project outputs and relevant findings for the preparation of quality project reports.
- Has demonstrated knowledge and experience in working on improving legal awareness, access to justice and pro-poor justice sector reform.
- Maturity and confidence in dealing with senior and high ranking members of national and international institutions, government and non-government.

Knowledge Management and Learning
- Shares knowledge and experience

Leadership and Self-Management
- Focuses on result for the client and responds positively to feedback
- Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude
- Remains calm, in control and good humored even under pressure
- Competent in leading staff, creating a team spirit, stimulating team members to produce quality outputs in a timely and transparent fashion


Qualification & Experience

University or master degree or its equivalent in law, social science, international development planning, or related field. A minimum of 8-10 years of professional experience in the field of human rights, and managing programmes funded by institutional donors. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in working on improving access to justice and pro-poor justice sector reform. Experience in budget and financial management; Mentoring and capacity building skills, Proven experience of project management, report writing, leading team, effective coordination & financial is preferred, work experience in multi cultural environments.

Skills/Knowledge/Ability
Have excellent English reading, speaking and writing skills, Achenese speaking would be an asset; Strong coordination and negotiation skills with stakeholders; Ability to work with a team in a multi-cultural environment and good team leadership; Positive approach to problem solving; Able to engender credibility, confidence and respectability; and a focus on results, balanced with a sensitive and honest approach to people; Good written and oral communication skills; Tact and diplomacy at all times.
